concept bornThe concept of Theatre Month was born out of a series of Producers' Meetings that began just over a year ago - 17 August 2002 - and which were attended by NDATT's foremost theatre practitioners who 'think tanked' and contributed their ideas and recommendations. A Theatre Month Steering Committee was put into place. proposal developedTrinidad theatre has incorporated many forms through the years: from tribal theatre and European/American performance, to tent theatre, street theatre and best village to theatre in education and 'grand hall' theatre. It continues to develop and evolve. rationale definedTheatre in Trinidad and Tobago has reached a stage where it should be recognised as an institution. Unofficially, there is a theatre season, which runs from after Carnival to early August and then continues from October to December. Most theatre performances take place during these periods. The object is to create a Theatre Month in a traditionally 'off month', i.e. September, to raise awareness of the dramatic arts and the profiles of the people and organisations involved. goals set
