"The Show Must Go On" is the theme for the 16th annual Cacique Awards scheduled for August 23 at Queen's Hall, St Ann's.This year the Special Awardees are Paloma Mohammed for the Caribbean Award, Efebo Wilkinson for the Vanguard Award and Austin Forsyth for the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Veteran theatre personality Julien Austin Forsyth is to be presented with the prestigious lifetime achievement award at the 2005 edition of the Cacique Awards, entitled "De show must go on" scheduled for August 23 at Queen's Hall, St Ann's.

Sunday, August 21st 2005When playwright Paloma Mohammed ascends the stage at Tuesday's gala Cacique Awards ceremony, it will be far from the first time the 36-year-old Guyanese has received a major award. To mention just a few of Mohammed's accolades, she's won the Guyana Prize for drama three times. When she first won, she was the youngest person to do so.

Lester Efebo Wilkinson is a poet, playwright, stage director, dramaturge, workshop facilitator and lecturer in Theatre Arts at the Centre for Creative and Festival Arts at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine. He has worked in children's theatre as well as on the adult stage and in the late 1970's wrote three children's plays, which he staged with students of the Malabar Roman Catholic School in Arima as his cast members.
